Soft Enamel Pins
Soft enamel pins are the most popular trading pin style available. Most of the pins that you see at the Jr. League World Series and other tournaments are this style. With a classic top-quality look, it's no surprise many people choose soft enamel pins to represent their team or organization. Soft enamel pins are die struck from a 1.2mm thick metal base in your choice of gold, silver, or black metal. The black metal base is the most popular due to the contrast it offers to the colors of the pin, and it helps make the colors stand out even more. The die forms the basic shape of your pins. Once formed, the pins are ready for color. When the die strikes the metal to form the pin, it also creates recessed areas in the metal. A soft enamel paint fills these recessed areas to add color to your pins.
Once the paint is finished, the pins go into an oven. The pins are baked at 400°F to fully bind the paint to the metal and provide a lustrous shine to the pins. Once the pins are out of the oven and have fully cooled, we can apply an optional clear epoxy coating to the pins. The epoxy coating helps protect against dents and scratches and adds an extra layer of shine to the pins that helps them be even more eye catching. While this coating is not a requirement, we certainly recommend it. Even if your pins are stored in a collector bag, they can still rub against each other. The coating guards against scratches and prolongs the life of the pin. We don't want you to open your pin collection to find your pins covered in scratches and dings!
